Quatuor Parisii is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over three decades. The quartet was founded in 1984 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a unique sound that would set them apart from other ensembles. The founding members of Quatuor Parisii were Jean-Michel Berrette (violin), Jean-Francois Heisser (piano), Dominique Lobet (viola), and Roland Pidoux (cello). All four musicians were accomplished soloists in their own right, but they came together to form the quartet with the goal of exploring the rich repertoire of chamber music and bringing their own interpretation to the classics. From the very beginning, Quatuor Parisii was recognized for their exceptional musicianship and their ability to bring a fresh perspective to the works of the great composers. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative chamber music ensembles in Europe, and their performances were eagerly anticipated by audiences and critics alike. Over the years, Quatuor Parisii has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Carnegie Hall. They have collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of our time, including Martha Argerich, Itzhak Perlman, and Yo-Yo Ma. One of the highlights of Quatuor Parisii's career was their performance of the complete Beethoven string quartets at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1994. This was a monumental undertaking, as the Beethoven quartets are considered some of the most challenging and complex works in the chamber music repertoire. The quartet's performance was hailed as a triumph, and it cemented their reputation as one of the greatest chamber music ensembles of our time. Quatuor Parisii has also been recognized with numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 1990, they were awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for their recording of the Schumann string quartets, and in 1998 they received the Diapason d'Or for their recording of the complete Mozart string quartets. They have also been awarded the Victoires de la Musique Classique, the highest honor in French classical music, on multiple occasions. Despite their many achievements, Quatuor Parisii remains committed to exploring new avenues in chamber music and pushing the boundaries of the genre. They continue to perform and record regularly, and their passion for music and dedication to their craft is as strong as ever.
