Duo Tal & Groethuysen is a classical music duo consisting of pianists Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen. The duo has been performing together since 1985 and has become one of the most renowned piano duos in the world. Yaara Tal was born in Israel in 1955 and began playing the piano at the age of five. She studied at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv and later at the Musikhochschule in Hanover, Germany. Andreas Groethuysen was born in Munich, Germany in 1956 and also began playing the piano at a young age. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and later at the Musikhochschule in Hanover, where he met Yaara Tal. The duo first met in 1983 when they were both studying at the Musikhochschule in Hanover. They began playing together and quickly realized that they had a special musical connection. In 1985, they officially formed Duo Tal & Groethuysen and began performing together professionally. One of the duo's early highlights was winning the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 1986.
