Genre:ChoralVocalThe Toronto Children's Chorus (TCC) is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its angelic voices for over four decades. Founded in 1978 by Jean Ashworth Bartle, the TCC has become one of the most respected children's choirs in the world, known for its exceptional musicality, professionalism, and commitment to excellence. Jean Ashworth Bartle, a renowned choral conductor and music educator, founded the TCC with the aim of providing children with a high-quality choral education and performance opportunities. She believed that children had the potential to create beautiful music and that choral singing could help them develop important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence. With this vision in mind, she started the TCC with just 30 children, and the ensemble has since grown to include over 300 choristers aged 6 to 30. The TCC is divided into six choirs, each with its own level of skill and experience. The youngest choir, the Kinderchor, is for children aged 6 to 8, while the senior choir, the Chamber Choir, is for young adults aged 17 to 30. The other choirs are the Training Choir, the Apprentice Choir, the Main Choir, and the Youth Choir. Each choir has a rigorous audition process, and choristers are expected to maintain a high level of commitment and dedication to their craft. Over the years, the TCC has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Vatican. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, such as Sir Andrew Davis, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. The TCC has also been featured in numerous recordings, including the Grammy-nominated album "The Children's Messiah." One of the TCC's most notable performances was at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. The ensemble performed a stunning rendition of the Canadian national anthem, "O Canada," in front of a live audience of over 45,000 people and a television audience of millions. The performance was widely praised for its beauty and professionalism, and it helped to cement the TCC's reputation as one of the best children's choirs in the world. The TCC has also won numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1999, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Healey Willan Grand Prize for its outstanding contribution to choral music in Canada. The TCC has also won several awards at international choral competitions, including the Choir of the World title at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales in 2000 and the Grand Prix at the Florilège Vocal de Tours in France in 2013. In addition to its performances and awards, the TCC is also committed to community outreach and education. The ensemble runs a number of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting choral music and providing opportunities for children to develop their musical skills. These include the Choral Scholars Program, which provides advanced training and performance opportunities for young adults, and the Outreach Program, which brings choral music to underserved communities and schools. In conclusion, the Toronto Children's Chorus is a world-class classical music ensemble that has been delighting audiences with its beautiful voices for over four decades.More....
