The trio was founded in 1998 by three talented musicians, Angela Golubeva (piano), Nicolas Corti (violin), and Sébastien Singer (cello). Angela Golubeva was born in Latvia and began playing the piano at the age of five. She went on to study at the Latvian Academy of Music and the Moscow Conservatory before moving to Switzerland to continue her studies. Nicolas Corti was born in Switzerland and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Sébastien Singer was born in France and began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Zurich University of the Arts. The trio's unique blend of musical styles and their exceptional technical skills quickly gained them recognition in the classical music world. They have performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. One of the highlights of the Swiss Piano Trio's career was their performance at the Lucerne Festival in 2002. They were invited to perform as part of the festival's "Rising Stars" program, which showcases young and talented musicians from around the world. The trio's performance was met with critical acclaim, and they were praised for their "exquisite musicianship" and "impeccable technique." In 2004, the Swiss Piano Trio released their debut album, which featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert.
