Born in Montreal, Quebec, on August 22, 1967, Berard showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of three. Her parents, both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Berard received her early training at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she studied with Jean Cousineau. She later went on to study with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York City. Berard's talent and dedication to her craft were evident from an early age, and she quickly established herself as a rising star in the world of classical music. Berard's career as a professional musician began in 1989 when she joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as its youngest-ever concertmaster. She held this position for 18 years, during which time she became known for her exceptional musicianship and her ability to lead the orchestra with grace and precision. Throughout her career, Berard has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's most celebrated conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Sir Simon Rattle, and Zubin Mehta. Berard's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth.
