Richard Robinson was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Robinson showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Robinson's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. Robinson continued to excel in his studies and was accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London at the age of 16. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, Robinson studied under some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Stephen Hough and Joanna MacGregor. In 2005, he was invited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14. Over the next few years, Robinson continued to build his reputation as one of the most talented young pianists in the world. He performed at the BBC Proms in 2007 and 2008, and in 2009 he was invited to perform at the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. Robinson's performance at the Chopin Competition was a turning point in his career. He received the highest score in the competition's history and was awarded first prize, becoming the first British pianist to win the competition in over 40 years. The win catapulted Robinson to international fame, and he began receiving invitations to perform at major concert halls around the world. In the years following his win at the Chopin Competition, Robinson continued to perform at major festivals and events, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Verbier Festival. He also began recording albums, releasing his debut album, "Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes," in 2011. In addition to his win at the Chopin Competition, he has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award and the Gramophone Classical Music Award for Best Instrumental Recording.
