Born on May 5, 1975, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Petkov showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Petkov's musical education began at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where he studied piano and composition. He later continued his studies at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and a Master's degree in Chamber Music. Petkov's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a gifted pianist. He won his first competition at the age of nine and went on to win numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. One of Petkov's most significant achievements was winning the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition "Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte" in the Czech Republic in 1997. This prestigious competition is known for its high level of competition and attracts some of the world's most talented young pianists. Petkov's success at the competition opened many doors for him, and he began performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls. He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Moscow Conservatory.
