Period:RomanticGenre:OperaOrchestralVocalDelia Wallis was born on May 12, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Delia showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As she grew older, Delia's passion for music continued to grow, and she began to explore other instruments, including the violin and the cello. She also began to study music theory and composition, and by the age of 12, she had written her first piece of music. Delia's talent and dedication to music led her to attend the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During her time at the academy, Delia also had the opportunity to work with other notable musicians, including cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Imogen Cooper. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Delia began to establish herself as a solo pianist, performing in concerts and recitals throughout Europe and the United States. Her performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth, and she quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. In 2010, Delia was invited to perform at the prestigious International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. The competition, which is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and prestigious piano competitions in the world, attracts some of the most talented young pianists from around the globe. Delia's performance at the competition was nothing short of spectacular, and she was awarded first prize, becoming the first British pianist to win the competition in over 30 years. The win catapulted Delia to international fame, and she began to receive invitations to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Over the years, Delia has continued to perform at the highest level, earning critical acclaim for her performances of works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She has also become known for her interpretations of contemporary music, and has premiered works by composers such as Thomas Adès and John Adams. In addition to her work as a performer, Delia is also a dedicated teacher, and has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Throughout her career, Delia has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to classical music. In 2015, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her services to music, and in 2018, she was named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music. Despite her many accomplishments, Delia remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, and is committed to inspiring the next generation of musicians to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential.More....
