Latitude 37 is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. The ensemble is made up of three main members: violinist Julia Fredersdorff, harpsichordist Donald Nicolson, and cellist Laura Vaughan. The group is known for their innovative and engaging performances of Baroque and early Classical music. Julia Fredersdorff, the ensemble's violinist, is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and has performed with numerous ensembles throughout Europe and Australia. Donald Nicolson, the harpsichordist, is also a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and has performed with many of Australia's leading early music ensembles. Laura Vaughan, the cellist, is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and has performed with many of Australia's leading orchestras and ensembles. Latitude 37 has performed at many of Australia's leading music festivals, including the Melbourne Festival, the Adelaide Festival, and the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival. The ensemble has also performed internationally, including in Europe and the United States. In 2010, Latitude 37 was awarded the prestigious Melbourne Prize for Music, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the city's music scene. One of the highlights of Latitude 37's career was their performance at the 2012 Melbourne Festival, where they presented a program of music by Johann Sebastian Bach. The ensemble's performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, and was described by critics as "spellbinding" and "mesmerizing." Another notable performance by Latitude 37 was their 2014 concert at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, where they presented a program of music by Antonio Vivaldi.
