Artist Info
Genre:ConcertoOperaThe Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Monaco. It was founded in 1879 as the Orchestra of the Monte Carlo Casino, and has since become one of the most renowned orchestras in the world. The orchestra was originally formed to provide music for the Monte Carlo Casino, which was built in the late 19th century to attract wealthy tourists to the principality. The casino's founder, François Blanc, wanted to create a world-class entertainment venue, and the orchestra was an essential part of that vision. Over the years, the orchestra has undergone several name changes and has been led by many distinguished conductors. Its current music director is Kazuki Yamada, who has been with the orchestra since 2016. The Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra is made up of around 90 musicians, many of whom are from France and Italy. The orchestra's members are highly skilled and have trained at some of the world's most prestigious music schools. The orchestra has performed all over the world, including in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It has also collaborated with many famous soloists, including pianist Lang Lang and violinist Maxim Vengerov. One of the orchestra's most famous performances was at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival, where it played the score for the film "The Red Balloon." The performance was so well-received that the orchestra was invited to perform at the festival every year thereafter. The orchestra has also won many awards and accolades over the years. In 2019, it was named "Orchestra of the Year" by the International Opera Awards. It has also won several other awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque and the Diapason d'Or. In addition to its performances, the Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra is also involved in music education. It runs a program called "Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée," which brings together young musicians from around the Mediterranean region to perform together. Overall, the Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra is a world-class ensemble that has been entertaining audiences for over a century. Its members are highly skilled and dedicated, and its performances are always a treat for music lovers.More....
