SpainPeriod:ModernGenre:OperaOrchestralOrquesta de Cámara de Madrid is a classical music ensemble based in Madrid, Spain. The ensemble was founded in 2003 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The founding members included violinists Ana Valderrama and David Apellániz, violist Ángel Luis Quintana, cellist Fernando Arias, and pianist Luis del Valle. The ensemble quickly gained recognition for its high level of musicianship and dynamic performances. In 2004, Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid was awarded the First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon, France. This was a major milestone for the ensemble, as it was the first time a Spanish ensemble had won this prestigious competition. Since then, Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid has performed extensively throughout Spain and internationally, including concerts in France, Italy, Germany, and the United States. The ensemble has collaborated with many renowned soloists and conductors, including pianist Joaquín Achúcarro, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and conductor Jesús López Cobos. One of the highlights of Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid's career was its performance at the 2008 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The ensemble was invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the forum, which was attended by world leaders and business executives from around the globe. Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid has also been recognized for its commitment to contemporary music. The ensemble has premiered works by many Spanish composers, including Luis de Pablo, Tomás Marco, and Jesús Torres. In 2010, the ensemble was awarded the National Prize for Music by the Spanish Ministry of Culture in recognition of its contributions to the promotion of contemporary Spanish music. The current members of Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid include violinists Ana Valderrama and David Apellániz, violist Ángel Luis Quintana, cellist Fernando Arias, and pianist Luis del Valle. The ensemble continues to perform regularly and is committed to bringing the beauty and excitement of chamber music to audiences around the world.More....
