He was the son of a musician, and from a young age, he showed a great interest in music. Luna's family moved to Madrid when he was a teenager, and he continued his musical studies at the Madrid Conservatory. He studied composition with Conrado del Campo and Tomás Bretón, and piano with José Tragó. Luna was a talented student, and he won several awards and scholarships during his time at the conservatory. After completing his studies, Luna began working as a pianist and conductor in Madrid. He also began composing music, and his first major work was the zarzuela "El niño judío," which premiered in 1918. The zarzuela was a huge success, and it established Luna as one of the leading composers of his time. Luna went on to compose many more zarzuelas, operas, and other works. Some of his most famous works include "La pícara molinera," "El niño judio," "Molinos de viento," and "El dúo de La Africana."
