David Alan Miller is a renowned American conductor and classical music artist. He was born on January 14, 1956, in Los Angeles, California. Miller grew up in a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Miller started playing the piano at the age of four and later learned to play the violin and trumpet. Miller attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.
