Aldo Protti was an Italian baritone opera singer who was born on July 6, 1920, in Cremona, Italy. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. Protti began his musical training at a young age and studied at the Conservatory of Milan. He made his debut in 1948 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he performed the role of Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème. Protti quickly gained recognition for his powerful voice and dramatic stage presence. He went on to perform in many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Paris Opera. He was particularly renowned for his performances in Verdi's operas, including Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, and La Traviata. One of Protti's most memorable performances was in 1951, when he sang the role of Rigoletto at the Salzburg Festival.
