Graham Ross is a British conductor, composer, and organist who has made a significant impact on the classical music scene. Born in 1985 in Cambridge, England, Ross showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later learned to play the organ and became a chorister at Clare College, Cambridge, where he was exposed to the rich tradition of choral music. Ross went on to study music at Clare College, where he was awarded a scholarship to study conducting. He also studied composition with Robin Holloway and Hugh Wood, and organ with David Sanger. During his time at Clare College, Ross became the director of music at St. Mary's Church in Nottingham, where he gained valuable experience conducting choirs and orchestras. After completing his studies at Clare College, Ross went on to study conducting at the Royal College of Music in London, where he was awarded the Tagore Gold Medal for outstanding achievement. He also studied with renowned conductors such as Sir Colin Davis and Bernard Haitink, and worked as an assistant conductor with the London Symphony Orchestra. Ross's career as a conductor took off in the early 2010s, when he was appointed the director of music at Clare College, Cambridge. In this role, he oversaw the college's renowned choir and led them on tours around the world. He also founded the choir's own record label, which has released several critically acclaimed recordings. Ross has also worked as a guest conductor with many of the world's leading orchestras and choirs, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has conducted at major venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican Centre, and the Edinburgh Festival Theatre. In addition to his work as a conductor, Ross is also an accomplished composer. His works have been performed by leading ensembles such as the BBC Singers and the Choir of King's College, Cambridge. In 2010, he was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award, and in 2011 he was named one of the "Rising Stars" of classical music by BBC Music Magazine. He has also been awarded the prestigious Gramophone Award for his recordings with the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge.
