Paula Robison is a renowned classical flutist who has made a significant impact on the world of music. Born on August 25, 1941, in Tennessee, Robison grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. Robison began playing the flute at the age of nine and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Robison's early musical education was under the tutelage of her father, who was a professor of music at the University of Tennessee. She later studied at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she was a student of Julius Baker. Baker was a legendary flutist who had played with the New York Philharmonic for over 40 years. Robison's career as a professional musician began in the 1960s when she joined the New York City Ballet Orchestra. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile flutist, and her career took off. In 1969, she became the principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic, a position she held for four years. During her time with the New York Philharmonic, Robison also began to establish herself as a soloist. She made her debut as a soloist with the orchestra in 1971, performing Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1 in G major. The performance was a huge success, and Robison's career as a soloist took off. Robison has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Juilliard String Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and the Guarneri Quartet.
