Born in 1985 in Bordeaux, France, Dumoussaud showed an early interest in music and began studying the piano at the age of six. He later took up the trumpet and joined the local youth orchestra, where he discovered his passion for conducting. Dumoussaud went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he trained under the renowned conductor and composer Pierre Boulez. He also studied with other notable conductors such as Bernard Haitink and Sir Simon Rattle. After completing his studies, Dumoussaud began his career as a conductor, working with various orchestras and opera companies throughout Europe. He quickly gained a reputation for his dynamic and expressive conducting style, and his ability to bring out the best in his musicians. One of Dumoussaud's early highlights was his appointment as the assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France in 2011. This prestigious position allowed him to work closely with the orchestra's music director, Daniele Gatti, and to conduct several concerts with the ensemble. In 2013, Dumoussaud was appointed the principal conductor of the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne, a position he held until 2018.
