Gabriela Díaz is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and chamber musician. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1970, Díaz began playing the violin at the age of four. Her parents, both musicians, recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Díaz's family moved to the United States when she was eight years old, and she continued her musical education under the tutelage of renowned violinists such as Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. Throughout her career, Díaz has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Cleveland Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including James Levine, Seiji Ozawa, and Christoph von Dohnányi. One of Díaz's most notable performances was her solo debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1997. She performed the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich, which was met with critical acclaim. Her recording of the complete works for violin and piano by Alberto Ginastera with pianist Hector del Curto was also highly praised. In addition to her performing and teaching career, Díaz is also a dedicated advocate for the arts. She has served on the board of directors for numerous arts organizations, including the Boston Chamber Music Society and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.
