Lucio Degani was born on October 10, 1978, in Venice, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a violinist and his mother a pianist. At the age of four, Lucio began playing the violin, and by the age of six, he was already performing in public. Lucio's talent was quickly recognized, and he was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello in Venice at the age of ten. He studied under the guidance of renowned violinists such as Salvatore Accardo and Pavel Vernikov. In 1994, at the age of sixteen, Lucio won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Premio Rodolfo Lipizer" in Gorizia, Italy. This was a significant achievement for the young musician, as the competition is one of the most prestigious violin competitions in the world. After completing his studies at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello, Lucio continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany, where he studied with Krzysztof Wegrzyn. He also attended masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Maxim Vengerov, Shlomo Mintz, and Zakhar Bron. In 2001, Lucio won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Fermo, Italy. Lucio's career as a soloist began to take off, and he began performing with orchestras around the world. He performed the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Niccolò Paganini with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Lucio has also performed at other prestigious venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. In addition to his career as a soloist, Lucio is also a dedicated chamber musician. He has performed with renowned musicians such as Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, and Yuri Bashmet. He is a member of the Trio di Parma, along with pianist Paolo Andreoli and cellist Enrico Bronzi. Lucio has recorded several albums, including works by Niccolò Paganini, Antonio Vivaldi, and Ludwig van Beethoven. His recording of the complete works for violin and orchestra by Paganini was highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. In 2010, Lucio was awarded the prestigious "Premio Abbiati" by the Italian National Association of Music Critics. The award is given to the best Italian musician of the year, and Lucio was recognized for his outstanding performances and recordings.
