Eric Gorfain is a renowned violinist, composer, and arranger in the world of classical music. Born on December 20, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, Gorfain grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Sid Gorfain, was a violinist and conductor, and his mother, Jacqueline Brand, was a cellist. Gorfain started playing the violin at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Gorfain attended the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, where he studied under the tutelage of Robert Lipsett. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. During his time at Juilliard, Gorfain was a member of the Juilliard Orchestra and performed in various concerts and recitals. After completing his studies, Gorfain began his professional career as a freelance musician in New York City. He quickly established himself as a sought-after violinist and performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the country, including the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the American Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work as a classical violinist, Gorfain is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He has written music for film, television, and theater, and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Adele, The Who, and Bruce Springsteen. One of Gorfain's most notable achievements as a composer and arranger was his work on the soundtrack for the hit television series, "Stranger Things." Gorfain, along with his sister, Paula, and his wife, Leah Katz, formed the string quartet, The Section Quartet, which performed the soundtrack for the show. The soundtrack was widely praised for its haunting and atmospheric sound, and Gorfain's arrangements were a key part of its success. Gorfain has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2006, he was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Classical Crossover Album for his work on the album, "The 5 Browns."
