He was born on August 23, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Davidson was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Davidson's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six and made his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten.
