From a young age, Jim showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Jim was homeschooled and spent much of his time practicing the piano. He was also exposed to a wide range of classical music, which helped to shape his musical tastes and style. By the age of ten, Jim had already performed in several local concerts and had won several awards for his piano playing. In 1997, Jim was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he studied under the renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Jim continued to excel in his piano playing and won several competitions, including the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard, Jim went on to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied under the pianist Gary Graffman. While at Curtis, Jim continued to perform in concerts and competitions, and he won several awards, including the Philadelphia Orchestra's Greenfield Competition. In 2007, Jim made his debut with the New York Philharmonic, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a huge success, and Jim received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. This performance helped to establish Jim as one of the leading pianists of his generation. Over the next few years, Jim continued to perform in concerts and recitals around the world. He also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes. In 2012, Jim was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in music. In 2015, Jim was invited to perform at the White House for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The performance was part of a series of concerts celebrating American classical music, and Jim's performance was a highlight of the event. Throughout his career, Jim has been praised for his technical skill, musicality, and ability to connect with audiences. He has also been recognized for his commitment to promoting classical music to a wider audience, and he has worked with several organizations to bring classical music to underserved communities. Today, Jim continues to perform in concerts and recitals around the world. He also teaches at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, where he is passing on his knowledge and passion for music to the next generation of musicians.More....
