Birth:1982Lise Berthaud is a French violist who has established herself as one of the leading classical music artists of her generation. Born on December 16, 1982, in Lyon, France, Berthaud grew up in a family of musicians. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist. Berthaud started playing the viola at the age of six and quickly showed exceptional talent. Berthaud's musical education began at the Conservatoire National de Région de Lyon, where she studied with Pierre-Henri Xuereb. She then went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Jean Sulem, where she graduated with honors. Berthaud also studied with Tabea Zimmermann, one of the most renowned violists of our time. Berthaud's career as a professional musician began when she won the first prize at the Maurice Vieux International Viola Competition in 2005. This was a significant achievement for Berthaud, as the competition is one of the most prestigious viola competitions in the world.
