Adele Kern was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. She was born on May 23, 1920, in Vienna, Austria, to a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. Adele showed an interest in music from a young age and began playing the piano at the age of four. Adele's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She received her formal training at the Vienna Conservatory, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Franz Schmidt. Adele's exceptional talent and dedication to music earned her a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. In 1940, Adele made her debut performance at Carnegie Hall, where she received critical acclaim for her performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, also known as the "Moonlight Sonata." This performance marked the beginning of Adele's successful career as a classical music artist. Throughout her career, Adele performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, and Georg Solti. Adele's repertoire included works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Schumann. She was particularly known for her interpretation of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which she performed with great passion and intensity. In addition to her performances, Adele was also a respected music educator. She taught at the Juilliard School for many years, where she inspired and mentored countless young musicians. Her dedication to music education earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the National Medal of Arts, which she received in 1992. Adele's career was not without its challenges. In 1956, she suffered a severe injury to her right hand, which threatened to end her career.
