Weller began his musical training at an early age, studying the violin with his mother. He later attended the Vienna Music Academy, where he studied under the renowned violinist Franz Samohyl. In 1966, Weller was appointed the concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held for six years.
