Katalin Kokas is a Hungarian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist, violist, and chamber musician. Born on August 22, 1978, in Budapest, Hungary, Kokas grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, László Kokas, was a renowned violinist and conductor, and her mother, Éva Marton, was a celebrated opera singer. From a young age, Kokas was exposed to the world of classical music and began playing the violin at the age of five. Kokas' talent was evident from an early age, and she quickly became a prodigy. She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she was mentored by some of the most prominent musicians in Hungary. She also studied at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she received a full scholarship. Kokas' career as a soloist began in the early 2000s, and she quickly gained recognition for her virtuosic performances. She has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She is the founder and artistic director of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, which is made up of some of the world's most talented young musicians. Kokas has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2003, she won the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, which helped to launch her career as a soloist. Kokas is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She is a professor at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she teaches violin and chamber music. She is also the founder and artistic director of the Kaposfest Chamber Music Festival, which takes place every summer in Hungary and attracts some of the world's most talented young musicians.
