Matthew Venner is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself in the world of choral music. Born in the United Kingdom, Venner grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His parents were both music teachers, and they encouraged him to pursue his interest in music from a young age. Venner began his musical journey as a chorister at St. John's College, Cambridge, where he developed a love for choral music. He went on to study music at the University of York, where he specialized in early music and vocal performance. During his time at university, Venner was a member of the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, The Tallis Scholars. After completing his studies, Venner joined The Tallis Scholars as a full-time member. The group, which was founded in 1973 by Peter Phillips, is known for its performances of Renaissance music. Venner quickly established himself as a valuable member of the ensemble, and his beautiful countertenor voice became a defining feature of their sound. Over the years, Venner has performed with The Tallis Scholars at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Albert Hall. He has also recorded numerous albums with the group, many of which have received critical acclaim. In addition to his work with The Tallis Scholars, Venner has also performed with other leading choral ensembles, including The Sixteen and The Gabrieli Consort. He has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Harry Christophers. Venner's talent as a vocalist has not gone unnoticed, and he has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious Gramophone Award for his performance on The Tallis Scholars' album, "The Deer's Cry." The album, which features works by William Byrd, was praised for its "exquisite singing" and "impeccable musicianship." In addition to his work as a performer, Venner is also a respected music educator.
