Born in 1965, she grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her father, Nathaniel de Rothschild, was a cellist and her mother, Susan, was a pianist. Her grandfather, Victor Rothschild, was a renowned scientist and patron of the arts. Charlotte began her musical training at the age of six, studying piano and violin. She later switched to singing and attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned vocal coach Vera Rozsa. She also studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In 1987, Charlotte made her professional debut as a singer in a production of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. She quickly gained recognition for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence, and went on to perform in numerous productions throughout the UK and Europe. One of Charlotte's most notable performances was in the 1991 production of "The Magic Flute" at the Royal Opera House in London. She played the role of Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night, and received critical acclaim for her performance. The production was later broadcast on television and released on DVD, further cementing Charlotte's reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. In addition to her work in opera, Charlotte has also performed in numerous concerts and recitals. She has a particular affinity for the music of Franz Schubert and has recorded several albums of his songs, including "Schubert Lieder" and "Schubert Lieder Volume 2". She has also recorded albums of works by other composers, including Mozart, Brahms, and Debussy. Charlotte's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 1992, she was awarded the Kathleen Ferrier Memorial Scholarship, which is given annually to a young British singer of exceptional promise.
