Born on January 22, 1943, in Marseille, France, Pasquier grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Pierre Pasquier, was a violinist, and his mother, Geneviève Pasquier, was a pianist. Pasquier's siblings, Jean Pasquier and Roland Pasquier, were also musicians, with Jean being a cellist and Roland being a violist. Pasquier began his musical journey at a young age, learning to play the violin from his father. He later switched to the viola, which became his primary instrument. Pasquier's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he was a student of Maurice Vieux and Pierre Pasquier, his father.
