Alexandru Agache is a renowned Romanian baritone opera singer who has captivated audiences around the world with his powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Born on August 22, 1968, in Bucharest, Romania, Agache grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father was a conductor and his mother was a pianist, and they both encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Agache began his formal music education at the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest, where he studied piano and voice. He later went on to study at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he received a degree in vocal performance. During his time at the university, Agache was mentored by some of Romania's most renowned opera singers, including Corneliu Fânățeanu and Dan Iordăchescu. Agache made his professional debut in 1992, when he was just 24 years old, in the role of Figaro in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest. His performance was met with critical acclaim, and he quickly became one of the most sought-after baritones in Romania. In the years that followed, Agache performed in numerous productions at the Romanian National Opera, including "Don Giovanni," "La Traviata," and "Rigoletto." In 1995, Agache made his international debut in the role of Escamillo in Bizet's "Carmen" at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Italy. His performance was a huge success, and he was soon invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera. Over the course of his career, Agache has performed in a wide range of operas, from the classics of Mozart and Verdi to the contemporary works of Philip Glass and John Adams. Some of his most notable performances include the title role in Verdi's "Rigoletto," the Count in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," and the title role in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." In addition to his work on the opera stage, Agache has also performed in numerous concerts and recitals around the world. He has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, and James Levine, and has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, Agache has received numerous awards and accolades for his work as an opera singer. In 1996, he was awarded the prestigious "Opera News Award" by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and in 2001, he was awarded the "Cultural Merit" medal by the Romanian government. He has also been awarded the "Golden Cross of Merit" by the Polish government and the "Order of Merit" by the Italian government. Despite his many accomplishments, Agache remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform regularly around the world and is known for his powerful voice, impeccable technique, and magnetic stage presence. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest baritones of his generation and a true ambassador of classical music.
