Harald Feller was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1955, in Vienna, Austria. He was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Feller was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Feller's talent was evident from an early age, and he began performing in public at the age of six. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory, where he received a comprehensive education in music theory, composition, and performance. He also studied under some of the most prominent musicians of the time, including pianist Friedrich Gulda and conductor Herbert von Karajan. Feller's career as a classical music artist began in earnest in the 1970s. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist, known for his technical skill and emotional depth. He performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, earning critical acclaim and a devoted following. One of Feller's most notable performances was at the Salzburg Festival in 1982. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was widely praised for its technical precision and emotional intensity, and it cemented Feller's reputation as one of the world's leading classical musicians. Feller's career was not without its challenges, however. In the early 1990s, he suffered a serious injury to his right hand, which threatened to end his career. He underwent extensive rehabilitation and was eventually able to return to performing, although he had to adapt his playing style to accommodate the injury. Despite this setback, Feller continued to perform and record throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He released numerous albums, including recordings of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. He also collaborated with other musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Feller's contributions to classical music were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1991, he was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, and in 2005, he was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria. He was also a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera. Feller's legacy as a classical music artist continues to be felt today. His recordings and performances are still widely admired for their technical skill and emotional depth, and his influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary classical musicians. He passed away on June 15, 2017, at the age of 62, but his contributions to the world of classical music will continue to be celebrated for generations to come.
