By the age of 12, Kantscheider had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigious talent. In 1990, Kantscheider was accepted into the Vienna Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of some of the most respected piano teachers in the world. During his time at the conservatory, Kantscheider honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. After graduating from the conservatory, Kantscheider began performing in concerts and recitals across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist and was praised for his technical proficiency and emotional depth. The competition was one of the most highly regarded in the world, and Kantscheider's victory cemented his status as one of the most talented pianists of his generation.
