Artist Info
Role:EnsembleTrío Arbós is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique sound and virtuosic performances for over two decades. The trio consists of violinist Cecilia Bercovich, cellist José Miguel Gómez, and pianist Juan Carlos Garvayo. They have become known for their innovative programming, which often includes contemporary works alongside more traditional repertoire. The trio was formed in 1996 in Madrid, Spain, where all three members were studying at the Royal Conservatory of Music. They quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and were awarded the First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy, in 1997. This early success set the stage for a career that would take them to some of the world's most prestigious concert halls. One of the highlights of Trío Arbós' career was their performance at the 2000 Salzburg Festival, where they were invited to perform alongside renowned pianist Martha Argerich. The trio's performance of Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 was met with critical acclaim, and they were invited back to the festival in 2002 to perform works by Ravel and Brahms. Trío Arbós has also been recognized for their commitment to contemporary music. They have premiered works by some of the most important composers of our time, including Sofia Gubaidulina, György Kurtág, and Magnus Lindberg. In 2004, they were awarded the National Music Prize for Interpretation by the Spanish Ministry of Culture for their contributions to contemporary music. In addition to their performances, Trío Arbós is also dedicated to education and outreach. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians around the world, and have served as artists-in-residence at several universities and music festivals. Trío Arbós has released several recordings over the years, including a critically acclaimed album of works by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo. Their recording of the complete piano trios of Shostakovich was also highly praised, with Gramophone magazine calling it "a benchmark recording." Despite their many accomplishments, Trío Arbós remains committed to pushing the boundaries of classical music and exploring new sounds and styles. They continue to tour extensively, bringing their unique blend of virtuosity and innovation to audiences around the world.More....
