Born on May 5, 1985, in Helsinki, Finland, Tiilikainen showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly developed a reputation as a gifted musician. Tiilikainen's parents were both musicians, and they encouraged his interest in music from an early age. He began taking piano lessons with a local teacher and quickly progressed to more advanced studies. By the time he was a teenager, Tiilikainen was already performing in public and winning awards at local competitions. In 2003, Tiilikainen was accepted into the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, one of the most prestigious music schools in Europe. He studied piano under the guidance of renowned pianist Liisa Pohjola and quickly established himself as one of the top students in his class. He also began studying conducting, which would become another important aspect of his career. After graduating from the Sibelius Academy in 2008, Tiilikainen began performing professionally as a pianist and conductor. He quickly gained a reputation as a dynamic and engaging performer, with a particular talent for interpreting the works of Finnish composers such as Jean Sibelius and Einojuhani Rautavaara. One of Tiilikainen's early highlights as a performer came in 2010, when he was invited to perform at the Helsinki Music Centre's opening concert. He played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, receiving rave reviews for his performance. This concert helped to establish Tiilikainen as one of the top young musicians in Finland. Tiilikainen has also been recognized for his work as a conductor. In 2012, he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, one of the leading orchestras in Finland. He has also conducted the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, among others. In addition to his work as a performer and conductor, Tiilikainen is also a respected music educator. He has taught piano and conducting at the Sibelius Academy and the Tampere Conservatory, and has given masterclasses and workshops throughout Europe and Asia. Tiilikainen has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2011, he was awarded the Pro Musica Foundation's Young Artist of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in Finland. He has also been a finalist in several international piano competitions, including the Leeds International Piano Competition and the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition.
