At the age of nine, Lin moved with her family to the United States, where she continued her musical education. She studied at the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School in New York City, where she was mentored by the legendary pianist and teacher Seymour Lipkin. Lipkin recognized Lin's exceptional talent and encouraged her to pursue a career as a concert pianist. Lin went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She then continued her studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, where she earned a Master of Music degree. Throughout her studies, Lin won numerous awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Pre-College Concerto Competition, the New York Philharmonic Young Artists Competition, and the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition. Lin's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the early 2000s, when she began performing at major venues around the world. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed at major festivals, including the Ravinia Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival, and the Bard Music Festival. Lin is known for her virtuosic technique and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she plays. She has a particular affinity for the music of Franz Liszt, and has recorded several albums of his works.
