Laszlo Szemere was born on May 12, 1985, in Budapest, Hungary. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Szemere showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Szemere began his musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied violin under the tutelage of Professor Istvan Parkanyi. He quickly distinguished himself as a prodigious talent, winning numerous awards and competitions throughout his teenage years. In 2003, Szemere was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he continued his violin studies under the guidance of Professor Itzhak Perlman. During his time at Juilliard, Szemere honed his skills as a performer and developed a deep appreciation for the classical repertoire. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Szemere embarked on a successful career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Szemere's most memorable performances came in 2010, when he was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms. He played the solo violin part in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, receiving a standing ovation from the audience and critical acclaim from music critics. In addition to his work as a soloist, Szemere is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Szemere's dedication to his craft has earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2012, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a significant career in music. He has also been awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and the Solti Foundation Career Assistance Award. Despite his success, Szemere remains humble and committed to his art. He continues to perform regularly and is passionate about sharing his love of classical music with audiences around the world.
