GermanyGenre:ChoralVocalSinger Pur is a German classical music ensemble that specializes in a cappella music. The ensemble was founded in 1991 by five former members of the Regensburger Domspatzen, a renowned boys' choir in Germany. The founding members of Singer Pur were Claudia Reinhard (soprano), Ingeborg Scheerer (alto), Marcus Schmidl (tenor), Manuel Warwitz (tenor), and Reiner Schneider-Waterberg (bass). The ensemble's name, Singer Pur, is derived from the Latin phrase "sine pur" which means "without equal." This name reflects the ensemble's commitment to excellence in their performances and their dedication to exploring the full range of the human voice. Singer Pur quickly gained recognition for their exceptional vocal abilities and unique sound. They began performing in concerts and festivals throughout Germany and Europe, and soon became known for their innovative programming and adventurous repertoire. One of the highlights of Singer Pur's early career was their participation in the 1992 International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany. The ensemble won first prize in the mixed choir category, and also received the special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work. Over the years, Singer Pur has continued to receive critical acclaim for their performances and recordings. They have won numerous awards, including the Echo Klassik Award, the Diapason d'Or, and the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Singer Pur's repertoire is diverse and includes music from the medieval period to the present day. They are particularly known for their interpretations of Renaissance and Baroque music, as well as their performances of contemporary works by composers such as Arvo Pärt, György Ligeti, and Steve Reich. One of the ensemble's most notable performances was their 2005 concert at the Berlin Philharmonic, where they performed a program of contemporary music by Ligeti, Pärt, and others. The concert was recorded and released as a CD, which received widespread critical acclaim. Singer Pur has also collaborated with a number of other musicians and ensembles over the years. They have performed with the Hilliard Ensemble, the King's Singers, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, among others. In addition to their performances, Singer Pur is also committed to music education and outreach. They regularly conduct workshops and masterclasses for young singers, and have worked with schools and community groups to promote the importance of music education. Today, Singer Pur is comprised of six members: Claudia Reinhard (soprano), Susanne Ansorg (alto), Markus Zapp (tenor), Manuel Warwitz (tenor), Reiner Schneider-Waterberg (bass), and Klaus Wenk (bass). The ensemble continues to perform and record, and remains one of the most respected and innovative vocal ensembles in the world.More....
