Nancy Dahn is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. She was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, in 1963. From a young age, Dahn showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. She was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional skills. Dahn's early musical education was under the tutelage of her mother, who was a violin teacher. She later went on to study at the University of Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. Dahn then pursued further studies at the Juilliard School in New York, where she earned a Master of Music degree. Throughout her career, Dahn has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician. She has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including pianist Jon Kimura Parker, cellist Shauna Rolston, and violinist James Ehnes. Dahn has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Dahn's career was her performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. She was chosen to perform the Canadian national anthem at the opening ceremony, which was watched by millions of people around the world. Dahn's performance was widely praised for its beauty and elegance. Dahn has also been recognized for her exceptional talent and contributions to the world of music. In 1995, she was awarded the Canada Council for the Arts' prestigious Virginia Parker Prize, which is awarded to outstanding young Canadian musicians. One of Dahn's most significant contributions to the world of music has been her work with the Duo Concertante, a chamber music ensemble she formed with her husband, pianist Timothy Steeves. The Duo Concertante has performed extensively throughout Canada and around the world, and has released several critically acclaimed recordings. The Duo Concertante has also been recognized for its exceptional talent and contributions to the world of music. In 2009, they were awarded the East Coast Music Award for Classical Recording of the Year for their album, "Wild Bird." They have also been nominated for several other awards, including the Juno Award for Classical Album of the Year.
