Artist Info
Genre:ChamberThe Borodin Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1945 in Moscow, Russia. The trio is named after the famous Russian composer Alexander Borodin, whose music they frequently perform. The founding members of the ensemble were Rostislav Dubinsky on violin, Valentin Berlinsky on cello, and Luba Edlina on piano. The Borodin Trio quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and became one of the most sought-after chamber ensembles in the Soviet Union. They were known for their passionate and expressive performances, as well as their deep understanding of the music they played. In 1955, the Borodin Trio won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Budapest, Hungary, which helped to establish their international reputation. They went on to perform in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Throughout their career, the Borodin Trio recorded extensively, producing over 50 albums of chamber music repertoire. They were particularly known for their recordings of the complete piano trios of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich, which are considered to be some of the finest recordings of these works. In addition to their performances and recordings, the Borodin Trio was also known for their dedication to teaching and mentoring young musicians. They frequently held masterclasses and workshops, and many of their former students went on to have successful careers in music. The Borodin Trio continued to perform together for over 40 years, until the retirement of Rostislav Dubinsky in 1992. He was replaced by Ruben Aharonian, a former student of Dubinsky's, and the trio continued to perform and record until 2007, when Valentin Berlinsky passed away. Today, the legacy of the Borodin Trio lives on through their recordings and the many musicians they inspired and mentored over the years. They are remembered as one of the greatest chamber ensembles of the 20th century, and their passionate and expressive performances continue to inspire audiences around the world.More....
