Vladimir Valek was born on May 5, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a renowned conductor. Vladimir showed an interest in music from a young age and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later learned to play the violin and the cello. Vladimir's talent was evident from a young age, and he began performing in public at the age of six. He won his first competition at the age of eight and went on to win several more competitions throughout his childhood. In 2003, Vladimir was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist František Brikcius. He graduated with honors in 2007 and went on to study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Vladimir's career as a professional musician began in 2008 when he was invited to perform with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented cellist and was soon invited to perform with other orchestras throughout Europe. In 2010, Vladimir won the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Competition, which launched his career to new heights. He was invited to perform at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Vladimir's performances were praised for their technical skill and emotional depth. He was known for his ability to bring out the nuances of a piece of music and to connect with his audience on a deep level. In addition to his solo performances, Vladimir was also a sought-after chamber musician. He performed with some of the world's most renowned ensembles, including the Guarneri Quartet and the Emerson Quartet. Throughout his career, Vladimir received numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his win at the Prague Spring International Music Competition, he also won the Grand Prix at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2011. Despite his success, Vladimir remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours each day and was always looking for ways to improve his technique and interpretation. Tragically, Vladimir's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. He underwent treatment and continued to perform whenever he was able, but his health continued to decline. Vladimir passed away on June 15, 2017, at the age of 32. He left behind a legacy as one of the most talented and beloved cellists of his generation. His recordings and performances continue to inspire and move audiences around the world.
