Massimo de Bernart is a renowned Italian conductor and musicologist who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on December 22, 1959, in Turin, Italy, de Bernart showed an early interest in music and began studying the piano at the age of six. He later went on to study composition and conducting at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. De Bernart's career as a conductor began in the early 1980s when he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo. He quickly gained a reputation for his dynamic and expressive conducting style, and his ability to bring out the best in his musicians. In 1985, he was appointed as the principal conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most prestigious orchestras in Italy. One of de Bernart's most notable achievements was his appointment as the principal conductor of the Teatro Regio di Torino in 1999. He also oversaw the renovation of the theater, which had been damaged by a fire in 1936. De Bernart has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is awarded by the Italian Association of Music Critics to the best conductor of the year. He has also been awarded the title of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an Italian citizen.
