He was the youngest of three children born to his parents, who were both musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Guido grew up in a musical household, and he started playing the piano at a very young age. Guido's talent for music was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He started performing in public when he was just six years old, and he was soon recognized as a rising star in the classical music world. He studied at the Tallinn Music School, where he received a rigorous education in music theory, composition, and performance. In 1974, Guido was accepted into the Moscow Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. He studied under some of the most renowned music teachers in Russia, including Lev Vlassenko and Yakov Flier. Guido's talent continued to flourish, and he won several awards and competitions during his time at the conservatory. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory in 1980, Guido embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He performed all over the world, including in Europe, Asia, and North America.
