Matthew Long is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself in the world of opera and oratorio. Born in the United Kingdom, Long grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His parents were both amateur musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue his interest in music from a young age. Long began his musical training as a chorister at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. He quickly developed a love for singing and went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During his time at the academy, Long honed his skills as a tenor and began to make a name for himself in the classical music world. One of Long's early breakthroughs came in 2006 when he was selected to participate in the prestigious Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House in London. This programme is designed to provide young artists with the opportunity to work with some of the world's leading opera professionals and to gain valuable experience in the field. During his time in the programme, Long had the opportunity to perform in a number of productions at the Royal Opera House, including Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Verdi's "La traviata." He also had the chance to work with some of the most respected directors and conductors in the industry, including Sir Antonio Pappano and Sir David McVicar. Long's talent and hard work paid off in 2008 when he was awarded the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Award. This award is given annually to a young British singer who shows exceptional promise in the field of opera. Long's win was a major milestone in his career and helped to establish him as one of the most promising young tenors in the UK. Over the years, Long has continued to build on his success and has become a sought-after performer in the world of opera and oratorio. He has performed with some of the most respected orchestras and opera companies in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the English National Opera. One of Long's most notable performances came in 2012 when he was selected to perform the role of the Evangelist in Bach's "St. Matthew Passion" at the Royal Festival Hall in London. This performance was widely praised by critics and cemented Long's reputation as one of the leading interpreters of Bach's music. In addition to his work as a performer, Long is also a respected educator and mentor. He has worked with a number of young singers and has served as a vocal coach at the Royal Academy of Music. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of classical music artists. Looking to the future, Long shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to perform regularly and is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow as an artist. With his talent, dedication, and passion for music, there is no doubt that he will continue to be a major force in the classical music world for years to come.More....
