June Han is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1981, Han showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music, enrolling her in the Yewon School of Arts, a prestigious music school in Seoul, when she was just ten years old. At the Yewon School of Arts, Han received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory, studying with some of the most respected teachers in South Korea. She quickly distinguished herself as a prodigious talent, winning numerous competitions and awards, including first prize in the Korea Music Association Competition and the Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition. In 1999, Han moved to the United States to continue her studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied with the renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky and earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 2003. She went on to earn her Master of Music degree from the same institution in 2005. During her time at Juilliard, Han continued to win accolades for her performances, including first prize in the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. She also performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. After completing her studies at Juilliard, Han embarked on a career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing with some of the most respected orchestras and ensembles in the world. She has appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. In addition to her work as a soloist, Han is also an accomplished chamber musician, performing regularly with some of the most respected ensembles in the world. She has collaborated with musicians such as violinist Itzhak Perlman, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and pianist Emanuel Ax, among others. Han's performances are characterized by her technical precision, musical sensitivity, and deep emotional expressiveness. She is known for her ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music she plays, whether it is a delicate Chopin nocturne or a thunderous Beethoven sonata. Throughout her career, Han has received numerous awards and honors for her performances, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Gilmore Young Artist Award, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. She has also been recognized for her commitment to music education, serving as a faculty member at the Juilliard School and the Aspen Music Festival and School. In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Han is also a dedicated philanthropist, using her platform to support causes such as music education and the arts. She has served on the board of directors for organizations such as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Korean American Community Foundation.
