In 1962, he made his debut at La Scala in Milan, in the role of Don Magnifico in Rossini's "Cinderella." He was particularly known for his performances in comic operas, and he was often praised for his ability to bring humor and wit to his roles. Some of his most famous roles included Don Pasquale in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale," Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni," and Dulcamara in Donizetti's "The Elixir of Love." Dara was also known for his collaborations with some of the most famous conductors and directors of his time. He worked with conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, and Riccardo Muti, and he performed in productions directed by Franco Zeffirelli and Giorgio Strehler.
