Period:BaroqueRomanticGenre:ChamberConcertoI Solisti Italiani is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences around the world for over 60 years. Founded in 1959 by a group of young musicians from the Conservatory of Padua, the ensemble quickly gained recognition for its exceptional musicianship and innovative approach to chamber music. The founding members of I Solisti Italiani were Claudio Scimone, Angelo Persichilli, Piero Toso, Domenico Nordio, and Giorgio Cini. Under the leadership of Scimone, the ensemble began to explore the vast repertoire of chamber music, from Baroque to contemporary works. Their unique sound and virtuosic performances soon earned them critical acclaim and a loyal following. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, I Solisti Italiani continued to expand their repertoire and perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. They collaborated with some of the most renowned soloists of the time, including Luciano Pavarotti, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Salvatore Accardo. Their recordings of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and other Baroque masterpieces became bestsellers and helped to popularize the genre. In the 1980s, I Solisti Italiani began to focus on contemporary music, commissioning new works and collaborating with composers such as Luciano Berio and Giya Kancheli. They also continued to perform and record the classics, earning numerous awards and accolades for their interpretations of Mozart, Beethoven, and other composers. One of the highlights of I Solisti Italiani's career was their performance at the 1990 World Cup opening ceremony in Rome, where they played a medley of Italian folk songs and classical pieces to a global audience of millions. They also performed at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, and have been featured on numerous television and radio programs around the world. Over the years, the ensemble has undergone some changes in membership, but has maintained its high standards of musicianship and artistic excellence. Some of the current members include violinists Paolo Grazia and Federico Guglielmo, violist Danilo Rossi, cellist Francesco Strano, and double bassist Giuseppe Ettorre. Today, I Solisti Italiani continues to tour extensively and record new works, while also preserving and promoting the rich legacy of chamber music. They have received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Premio Abbiati from the Italian Association of Music Critics and the Grand Prix du Disque from the Académie Charles Cros in France. With their passion for music and commitment to excellence, I Solisti Italiani has become one of the most respected and beloved classical music ensembles in the world. Their legacy of innovation and artistry will continue to inspire generations of musicians and music lovers for years to come.More....
