Artist Info
Birth:1993 in Amman, JordanIyad Sughayer is a Palestinian-British pianist who has gained international recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. Born in Amman, Jordan in 1993, Sughayer grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father, a violinist, and his mother, a pianist, encouraged him to pursue music and provided him with the necessary resources to develop his skills. Sughayer began his piano studies at the age of six with his mother, and later studied with renowned pianists such as Niel Immelman and Murray McLachlan. He also attended the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree with first-class honors and a Master of Music degree with distinction. Throughout his career, Sughayer has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Gold Medal at the Royal Overseas League Competition in London in 2017. He has also been a finalist in several other competitions, such as the Leeds International Piano Competition and the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. Sughayer has performed in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. He has also collaborated with leading orchestras, such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, and the Manchester Camerata. One of Sughayer's most notable performances was his debut recital at the Wigmore Hall in 2018, which received critical acclaim from the press. The Guardian described his playing as "exquisite" and "sensitive," while The Times praised his "impeccable technique" and "deeply felt interpretations." Sughayer's repertoire is diverse and includes works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly interested in promoting the music of lesser-known composers, such as the Palestinian composer Suad Bushnaq, whose works he has performed in several concerts. In addition to his performing career, Sughayer is also a passionate educator and has given masterclasses and workshops in several countries. He is committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience and has been involved in several outreach projects, such as the Manchester Camerata's "Music in Mind" program, which aims to improve the well-being of people with dementia through music. Sughayer's talent and dedication to music have earned him a reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. His performances are characterized by a deep emotional connection to the music and a technical mastery that allows him to convey the composer's intentions with clarity and precision. As he continues to develop his career, it is clear that Sughayer will be a major force in the classical music world for years to come.More....
