Harry Bicket is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact on the world of music. He was born in Liverpool, England, in 1961, and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a music teacher, and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that he developed an interest in music from a young age. Bicket began his musical education at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he studied piano and organ. He later went on to study harpsichord at the Royal College of Music in London, where he was awarded the prestigious Tagore Gold Medal for his outstanding performance. After completing his studies, Bicket began his career as a freelance musician, performing with various orchestras and ensembles across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician, and was soon in demand as a conductor as well as a keyboard player. One of the highlights of Bicket's early career was his appointment as the artistic director of the English Concert, a period-instrument ensemble that specializes in Baroque and Classical music. Under his leadership, the English Concert became one of the most respected and admired ensembles in the world, and Bicket himself was widely regarded as one of the leading interpreters of Baroque music. Bicket's reputation as a conductor continued to grow, and he was soon invited to work with some of the world's leading orchestras and opera companies. He has conducted the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra, among others. Bicket has also been a regular guest conductor at some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. He has conducted productions of operas by Handel, Mozart, Monteverdi, and many other composers, and has been praised for his sensitive and insightful interpretations. One of the highlights of Bicket's career was his appointment as the artistic director of the Santa Fe Opera in 2008. During his tenure, he oversaw the production of many critically acclaimed operas, including Handel's "Radamisto," Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," and Britten's "Billy Budd." He also introduced a number of innovative initiatives, such as the Apprentice Program for young singers and the Opera Ranch for children. Bicket has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Best Conductor in 2005 and the Handel Music Prize in 2007. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Liverpool in 2010 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the world of music. In addition to his work as a conductor, Bicket is also a highly respected keyboard player, and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician with many of the world's leading ensembles. He has recorded extensively, both as a conductor and as a keyboard player, and his recordings have received widespread critical acclaim. Bicket is known for his passionate commitment to music, his deep understanding of the Baroque and Classical repertoire, and his ability to bring out the best in both musicians and singers. He continues to be in demand as a conductor and keyboard player, and his performances are eagerly anticipated by audiences around the world.
