Ensemble Kontraste is a classical music group that was founded in Vienna, Austria in 1995. The group is known for its innovative and dynamic performances, which blend traditional classical music with contemporary styles and techniques. The founding members of Ensemble Kontraste were violinist Daniel Auner, cellist Christoph Eggner, and pianist Christoph Traxler. The three musicians had met while studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and they shared a passion for exploring new and unconventional approaches to classical music. In the early years of the group, Ensemble Kontraste focused on performing works by contemporary composers, including György Ligeti, Alfred Schnittke, and Arvo Pärt.
