Born on October 25, 1943, in Lviv, Ukraine, Krysa began his musical journey at a young age. His father, a professional violinist, was his first teacher, and he later studied at the Lviv Music School and the Moscow Conservatory. Krysa's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills. In 1964, he won first prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition in Genoa, Italy, which launched his career as a soloist. He went on to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, Krysa has been known for his technical mastery and expressive playing. He has a particular affinity for the works of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, and has recorded numerous albums of their music. He has also premiered works by contemporary composers, including Krzysztof Penderecki and Alfred Schnittke. In addition to his performing career, Krysa has been a dedicated teacher. He has held positions at the Moscow Conservatory, the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Rochester, among others. He is currently a professor of music at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
